How to Slow Down your Heart Rates in Just 1 Minute

If your hearth rates are over 100 beats per minute while you are relaxing, then you have a 78% greater risk to develop a heart disease. This could happen to men and women of all ages. Here we have three simple ways that will take you less than a minute, and with which you will slow down your hear rates.

1. Ice-water facial

You will need a very cold water, and you can add ice cubes in the bowl of water. All that you need to do when your heart beats fast is to dip your face in the bowl a few seconds. This method stimulates the vagus nerve to slow down your heart and it will cause the well-known dive reflex. This is the same reflex that can help you by slowing down your body metabolism in order to survive for a long time under cold water.

2. Valsalva maneuver

You need to hold your breath and bear down in a strain for five seconds, and then breathe. This method changes the pressure in your chest and because of that in the big blood vessels in it. So, now your body thinks that it needs to slow down your heart. Try this again if the pulse hasn’t slowed. There is another way to do this Valsalva maneuver and that is to stick a finger in the throat and try to gag yourself.

3. Deep Breathing

If you lower the breathing speed, that will help you to lower your heart rate. Take a breath for 5 to 8 seconds, hold the breath for 3 to 5 seconds, and then exhale slowly for 5 to 8 seconds. You should focus on the exhaling completely to slow down your heart rate.

Try each of these methods of the previous didn’t work. After some time, you will notice which one works best for you, and which one will help you to slow down your heart beats.

If you have frequent episodes like this of fast heartbeats that last for 20 minutes or more, you feel pain or faint, ask for medical help.
