Have you ever baked in a canning jar? Well, now is the perfect time to start. Watch the video to see how CHOW is doing that. If you like, you can swap out the wheat flour with coconut flour or the sugar for honey, the Chia flour to avoid eggs, use coconut oil or grass fed butter and top it off with coconut whip cream (homemade). You can easily make any recipe healthy.
CHOW says that you should start with two and one half cups of fresh fruit and put the fruit into 4 half pint canning jars. Make a mixture of one half cup of flour, one half teaspoon salt and one half-cup of sugar. Whisk it together and pour it on the fruit in the jar and then top with butter.
Once the jars are filled completely, move them to a square dish for baking. You can fill the inside of the dish with some dried beans in order to keep the jars from sliding. Bake it for one hour at 350°. After that, let the jars to cool completely. You can put a little whipped cream on the top and you can keep the jars in your fridge for up to one week. They are amazing for a picnic and make a great gift.
Really delicious and cheap recipe that you must try.
