Do you often give to your kids Gold Fish and some other artificial cheese snacks? You think that it is a healthy snack? Unluckily, if your kids attend any educational establishment, it is difficult to avoid your kids being fed Gold Fish. But, we should all read the label and do a research because the health of our children really matters!
The Goldfish snack is not so kid friendly, because it is made of:
- Unbleached Enriched Wheat Flour [Flour, Reduced Iron, Niacin, Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Thiamin Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Folic Acid].
- Nonfat Milk
- Vegetable Oils (Sunflower, Canola and/or Soybean)
It contains 2% or less of:
- Leavening (Baking Soda, Ammonium Bicarbonate, Monocalcium Phosphate)
- Onion powder
The Rainbow version of the GoldFish contains these artificial dyes:
- Red 40
- Blue 2
- Blue 1
- Red 3
GMO Oils and Wheat
The GoldFish is made with GMOs, namely soybean or canola oil, and there is nothing natural or healthy about it. Kids are the most susceptible to those dangers, and that is because they are in a state of high growth. The GMO products, especially soy, have been tied to an increase in asthma, allergies, and a propensity to get the antibiotic resistant infection. One story in the UK Telegraph presented that the herbicides that are used on the GMO soy are so toxic, and even a direct contact can result is illness and sometimes death.
The GMO creates new proteins that our bodies have never seen before and they try to attack them and destroy them.
All of the artificial dyes, according to the Center for Science in the Public Interest, contain potential cancer-causing chemicals, and also most of them are able to cause some allergic reaction in children. According to one study that was published by the Southampton University, the food dye affects all children negatively, whether they have been diagnosed with the hyperactivity disorder or have food color sensitivity.
Conventional dairy products and milk are dangerous to the health because of the added dangerous sweeteners. Just one cup of 2% milk contains 12.3 g of sugar, and that is almost like chocolate chip cookie or more than a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup? The low fat milk doesn’t have nutrients because by the process of removing the fat from the dairy products, the food processors remove a host of fatty acids and some other nutrients too.
We recommend you to choose homemade and organic foods and options. Choose foods without additives, artificial dyes and some other harmful ingredients.
